Relaxed Country Chic
A stunning country conversion of mixed buildings. Formerly a small house dating back to the 1500′s with a selection of single storey additions. All space was maximized to its full potential yet creating an overall sense of space and integration into the countryside surroundings.
By using traditional materials and techniques the conversion tells the story of historic development, from timber frame house to weatherboarded barn to stone shelter. By maintaining these elements the mass of the dwelling is minimised and a more relaxed property is created.
External landscaping is soft and flowing to showcase feature walls and the pond on arrival. Access around the property is via a suspended deck over the pond.
Internally, the exposed beams and muted colours give space definition and create a calm canvas that the client could dress. The space planning was key to the character of the home with a sunken kitchen with views to the vaulted sitting room. From the open sitting room a feature woodburner creates a focal point in the room while two staircases rise to access the master bedroom and a galleried study. The rear structures provide further bedrooms, a bathroom and utility. The flow and movement is kept simple to maximise floor space and to enable flexible furniture layouts.
A truly relaxed arrival and feel to the property both inside and outside welcomes you home.
